Photojournalism
in the field,
taught live.
Sessions built around what actually happens when you are working - the decisions, the pressure, the ethical weight of pointing a camera at someone's reality.
What the series covers
Five sessions across eight weeks - each one self-contained, all of them connected
Reading a Scene Before You Shoot
Situational awareness as a photographic skill. How to enter a space, assess light and movement, and position yourself before anything happens.
Ethics and Consent in Documentary Work
The practical and moral complexity of photographing people in vulnerable or unfamiliar situations - when to ask, when to step back, and what the image costs.
Working in Low Light Without Compromise
Technical decisions under pressure - ISO limits, grain as a tool rather than a problem, and when to accept imperfection in service of the moment.
Sequencing a Photo Story
The difference between a collection of images and a story told through images. How sequence, pacing, and edit decisions shape meaning before a caption is written.
Pitching to Editors - What Actually Works
How editorial decisions get made, what a pitch email needs to contain, and why most photographers underestimate the importance of context over aesthetics.
How these sessions are structured
Each webinar is a focused conversation, not a lecture.
The format keeps group sizes small - never more than 20 participants - so that Q&A time has actual room to breathe. Sessions are recorded and made available to registered participants for 30 days, though the live element is where most of the value sits. Questions asked in real time, images reviewed in the moment, and discussion that follows the room rather than a fixed script.
Offerquestdrive has been running structured photojournalism education since 2015, and the webinar format grew out of requests from photographers who could not attend in-person workshops. The material draws directly from field experience - not from textbooks, and not from a generalised photography curriculum.
